Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2026
Our Privacy Commitment
VidStudio is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your video files never leave your device. All video processing happens entirely in your browser using WebAssembly technology. We don't upload, store, or have access to any of your media files.
How VidStudio Works
VidStudio uses FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly (WASM) to process videos directly in your browser. This means:
- Your files are processed locally on your device
- No video data is transmitted to any server
- Your original files remain unchanged on your device
- Processed files are downloaded directly to your device
The FFmpeg WebAssembly binary itself is fetched from the public npm mirror cdn.jsdelivr.net the first time you use a feature that needs it. This is a one-time download of the FFmpeg program itself — your video files are still never uploaded anywhere. See our Licenses & credits page for details.
Information We Collect
Error Monitoring
We use Sentry for error monitoring to improve the application. When an error occurs, we may collect:
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Error messages and stack traces
- General device information (screen size, memory)
We do not collect: Your video content, file names, personal information, or any identifiable data about the media you process.
Analytics
We use PostHog and Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns (page views, feature usage, performance). We do not sell this data or share it with advertisers. You can opt out of PostHog tracking via your browser's Global Privacy Control signal or a Do-Not-Track setting.
Cookies
VidStudio does not use cookies for tracking purposes. We may use essential cookies for:
- Remembering your UI preferences (such as selected layout options)
- Basic functionality requirements
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Sentry — Error monitoring and crash reporting
- PostHog — Product analytics (aggregate usage, no personal data)
- Vercel Analytics — Page-view and performance analytics
- jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net) — Serves the FFmpeg WebAssembly binary to your browser
These services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.
Data Retention
Since we don't collect your video data, there is nothing to retain or delete. Error logs are retained for 30 days to help us diagnose and fix issues.
Your Rights
Since VidStudio processes everything locally and doesn't collect personal data, most data protection rights (like access, deletion, or portability) don't apply in the traditional sense. However, if you have questions about our error monitoring data, please contact us.
Children's Privacy
VidStudio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
